MISSION
The International Distributed Optical Performance Testing Standards Association exists to facilitate the development and adoption of a common, internationally-recognized standard against which Distributed Temperature Sensing System performance can be specified and measured. IDOPTS will also provide support to DTS customers/users across all industries on how to specify and use DTS Systems.
Why do we need IDOPTS?
IDOPTS was initially created to address some very important technical issues related to the purchase process for DTS, including:
- It Is a Complex Solution. DTS performance measurement is highly dependent on many inter-related operational conditions and factors. As such, a simple metric will not suffice.
- No Standard Exists. There is no internationally-recognized standard for DTS performance, especially when comparing for different applications of the technology in various vertical industries.
- There Is No Uniform Approach By Vendors. Each DTS vendor quotes performance based on different calculations, resulting in an inability by customers to make fair comparisons between their options.
- Clients Do Not Specify Accurately What They Will Need. As a result of a lack of understanding of DTS technology, many customers are simply unable to craft appropriate and robust requisitions specifications.
